He tried to pass a shitstorm onto my desk.

He looked at me, his eyes urgent and impatient. I returned his glance without falter, aware of my uncovered annoyance. I knew what he was doing. I'm not stupid. First attempt: bad cop. "That's your job. Fix it. Solve it. That's on you." His body turned away, dismissing me. I was on my own, only I refused to comply. I thought I'd reason with him, but he declined my arguments and chuckled as if we were buds having a laugh. I was not amused. His leg started to tap impatiently when he began to realise his intimidation wasn't achieving the effect he was hoping for.

His tone became mean and dark, desperate even. I turned away and ignored his demands and started working on something else. Ten seconds passed while he cast glances at my screen. "How's it going?" he asked, his voice now softer and filled with gentle concern. Good cop. His stance opened up, facing me with his entire body. He began another approach, complementing me on my abilities and intelligence. Trying to encourge me with flatter. Yet, I still don't bite.

Bitch, please. I was raised under manipulation. This is child's play.

I don't know what he expected to achieve. Did he really think he could scare me into taking on his workload? Don't misunderstand me, I'd love to shoulder the burden, but under reasonable premises. You can't just dump a problem on me because you're unable to solve it yourself and then disclaim all responsibility. I'm not a scapegoat.

However, I do understand. With San resigning and my boss being increasingly absent due to other business units, a large portion of responsibility and pressure have fallen onto him. I can sympathise, and I'd do anything I can to help. But they screwed me when I didn't get a proper hand-over. That's on them. They can't come now and try to squeeze blood from a stone.

We had a long discussion afterwards where he was more accommodating. He still needs me and wants me on his good side. I felt disgusted with his two-faced character. I'm so tired of these office politics.
